icons and what they mean

Following are all the possible icon / buttons you'll see, and what each one does. Note that these icons are specific to this image set (as chosen in "admin->preferences"). A different image set will have different icons, but they should perform the same function.

Icons are context sensitive; that is, they appear where they "make sense." Also, some features may have been turned off by your administrator, and you may therefore not see some of the icons listed below.

 
queue buttons depending on your permissions, you'll see some or all of the following buttons on the action queue in the requests area.
   bumpup   bump up moves a song up in the play order.
   bumpdown   bump down moves a song down in the play order.
   close   close removes a song from the current queue (but does not delete the song). in the menu bar, it also closes the current play list and turns off editing.
   fast forward   fast forward skip forwards in this song
   listen   listen listen to stream on this channel
   play   play start music for this channel
   pause   pause pause music for this channel
   pause   pause pause the playing song
   restart   restart restart this song
   rewind   rewind skip backwards in this song
   trash   trash excludes the song from random play and adds it to the "trash" list.
   shuffle   shuffle shuffles the queue if 3 or more songs have been requested.
   volume up   volume up turn up the volume
   volume down   volume down turn down the volume
 
albums, lists, collections again depending on your permissions, you'll see some or all of the following buttons throughout the interface, next to an album, list or a "collection" (e.g. newest albums, recent history, albums by genre, artists and search results).
   play   play plays the entire album or list in the order displayed.
   shuffle   shuffle plays the entire album or list in a random order.
   pick three   pick3 picks 3 random songs from the album, play list, or by a given artist, and puts them on the queue.
   export   export export the album, genre, list of songs, etc. as an m3u file. used for creating play lists for an mp3 player, and/or burning a CD.
   id3 write   id3 write write the id3 tags for the songs on this album, based on currently displayed information. note that your songs will need to be part of the Group defined in the conf file, and writeable by that group.
   flag   flag tag the album (e.g., explicit lyrics, do not play, edit id3, etc.)
 
songs
   info   info shows all information for a song, as well as all its controls (download, edit, trash, etc.).
   download   download downloads a music file (e.g. an mp3) to your computer (if this is turned on). normally, you'll need to right-click the download icon, and choose "save link target as" for this to work properly.
   id3 write   id3 write write the id3 tags for a given song, based on currently displayed information. note that your songs will need to be part of the Group defined in the conf file, and writeable by that group.
   flag   flag tag the song (e.g., explicit lyrics, do not play, edit id3, etc.)
 
list editing buttons to create and modify a play list, click on "lists," and choose a list to edit. you must be the list owner to edit a list, though anyone can view or play it. click on the add icon from the lists menu to create a new list. the current list appears in the navigation bar and is surrounded by the "selected" box when it is chosen from the available lists.
   add   add adds a song to the current list.
   minus   remove removes a song from the current play list.

this box appears in the navigation bar, and indicates either a list or editing is (or both are) presently active. clicking on the "close" icon ( close ) will turn off the list or editing; clicking on the word in the box will bring up a menu for editing, or a menu of available lists.
   edit   edit edit information or associations in the database. you must have editing permissions, and turn editing on (by clicking on "edit" in the navigation menu) in order to see this option.
