help - playing music

You can play music by individual song, by album, by list, by artist, and by genre. Playing music simply means adding music to the queue (see the queue & random play). In general, the queue will indicate how many songs have been added, and new songs will be inserted at the bottom of the list of songs picked by all users, followed by any songs already picked by the jukebox. Songs picked by users will have the user's name next to the song.

by song

Songs can generally be distinguished by their color coding, in addition to their context on the page. Clicking on a song within an album, on the search results page, on a list, or under many of the display pages available on the "show" menu will add that song to the queue.

One notable exception to this is the 'recent history' page, which instead will show the song info page when a song is clicked on (since that song has presumably been recently played). You can play any song from the song info page by clicking on the play icon (play).

by album

To see an album (represented by this color), you can search for it using the search text box, or by clicking on a a letter, which will show either artists, or genres beginning with that letter (or artists of a particular type, from which you can see albums by a particular artist). Click on an artist or genre to see albums by that artist, or within that genre.

You can play any song on an album by clicking on that song. You can also play an entire album in it's track order (play), or in a random order (shuffle), or pick 3 songs at random from that album (pick three).

by artist

When you see an artist (represented by this color), whether in one of the listsings from the show menu, or on the queue, or anywhere else on the screen, clicking on that artist will show all albums and compilations with which that artist is associated. Clicking on the pick 3 icon (pick three) where it appears next to an artist's name will play 3 songs at random by that artist.

by list

Choose a list from the lists menu at the top, then like an album, you can play an entire list in the order it was created (play), or in a random order (shuffle), or pick 3 songs at random from that list (pick three).

You can also play individual songs on the list by clicking on that song title. More on lists can be found here.

by genre

If you have permission, you can modify random play, and have the jukebox play only music from selected genres. You can also play all music except selected genres. More on how to do this here, but this feature can be found under admin->modify random play.
