Spain is an eclectic mix of architecture and style accumulated
over the centuries. But what makes Spain so unique is the Mudejer architecture
- a mixture of Moorish style and craftsmanship, usually under the direction
of the Christian kings.
This is a typical mudejer window, in one of the many old buildings in Sevilla (in this case, the Alcazar). The Alcazar was the seat of Moorish rule in Sevilla for centuries. The building itself is simple (if you can call this simple), with wonderful and extensive gardens that you could wander in for days. |
