Traveling in Africa
Hatty hatty

The southern coast of Senegal is a paradise - a million miles of white sand beaches, warm winds and nobody there. You can rent your own hut for about 3 dollars a day. I'd arrived in the little "hotel" with a Scottish guy and two Aussies. The Aussies were a couple, and fought all the time. This is where I met Hatty and her brother Charles, off on their own African adventure. Later, we became good friends; in fact I recently attended Hatty's wedding, which you can see as the UK trip. But at the time, Hatty and Charles were leaving, and they were going in the opposite direction as the Aussies, so I left with them.

To get to where we were going (Guinea Bissau), we crossed throw Oussouye in the hinterlands of Senegal, a town of about 600. From my journal:

"...It's wonderful to see the women wear bras. Worn without regard to the placement, and sometimes to the exclusion of clothes, it is as if they're worn to flaunt their imposition."
