The main pyramid at Uxmal in Yucatan. In case you
can't tell, the stairs are unbelievably steep -
close to 45 degrees. A lot of tourists slog
up these steps, then freak out and have to
be coaxed down, backwards, clinging desperately
to a chain.
Reclining jaguars in front of the government house. These sorts of figures were generally used as altars, with offerings placed on the backs.

Chicen Itza - probably most visited of all the sites in Mexico.
In case you've not read your history, the Mayans were pretty darn smart.

This pyramid is (among other things), one giant calendar -
there are exactly 365 steps (total)
leading to the top. On the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, the snake's head
at the bottom of the main steps is connected
with its tail at the top of the pyramid for 2 hours at sunset
by an undulating shadow. There are dozens more examples, but
this should be enough to impress you....
